CREATING AN EFFECTIVE BRAND SYSTEM

A company’s stationery reflects its character and values. LTTS falls under Tier-1 ICs and those Registered Companies (RC) that form the second rung in the L&T corporate structure. The LTTS letterhead clearly communicates the following:

Address at which the business unit operates
Registered office address
Any other statutory element that must be given as per the legal requirements of the land

CONSTRUCTING A TIER-1 SECONDARY
BRAND LETTERHEAD

The measurement unit for all brand mark construction and design of applications is the diameter (D) of the monogram.

Size and Placement of the L&T Monogram: The diameter of the
L&T Monogram used in this letterhead must be 13 mm. The L&T Monogram must be placed at a distance of 1¾ D from the top edge of the page and 2 D from the left edge, as illustrated.

Size and Placement of the Tier-1 Word Mark: The word mark of the IC or the wholly-owned RC must be placed at a distance of 1/4 D from the right edge of the monogram. The first letter of the word mark of the IC must be 1/3 D in height and vertically central to the L&T Monogram.

SIZE AND PLACEMENT OF THE REGISTERED ADDRESS

The Registered Address Block must be placed at a distance of 1 D from the bottom edge of the page and 2 D from the left edge of the page.

SIZE AND PLACEMENT OF THE ADDRESS BLOCK

When a different location/branch Address Block is being used with the Registered Address, it must be placed at a distance of 2 D from the left edge of the page and aligned at the top with the Registered Address Block. It must also include the statutory name ‘Larsen & Toubro Limited’.

Envelope - End Flap

ENVELOPE DESIGN

At present, LTTS uses a single standard envelope size for business communications, as detailed in this section. The instructions provided here regarding design specifications can, however, be used for designs of small and large envelopes, with top and side seal flaps, as well as envelopes to be used by stockists/dealers to meet any future needs. In such cases, the envelope designs must clearly communicate the following:

The business unit
Address at which the Business Unit operates
Registered office address (if the business operates from other locations)
Any other statutory element that must be given as per the legal requirements of the land

CONSTRUCTING THE STANDARD ENVELOPE WITH WINDOW AND END SEAL FLAP

The measurement unit for all brand mark construction and design
of applications is the diameter (D) of the monogram.

Size and Placement of the L&T Monogram: The diameter of the Monogram used in this envelope must be 15 millimeters.

The L&T Monogram must be placed at a distance of 1 D (15 mm) from the top fold of the envelope and 1½ D (22.5 mm) from the left fold as illustrated.

Size and Placement of the Word Mark: The word mark must be
placed at a distance of 1/4 D from the right edge of the L&T Monogram. The first letter of the word mark must be 1/3 D in height and vertically central to the L&T Monogram.

Size and Placement of the Address Block: The address block must be placed at a distance of ½ D from the bottom fold of the envelope and 1½ D from the left fold of the envelope.

Size and Placement of the Window: The window must be 110 mm in width and 49.3 mm in height. It must be placed at a distance of 1 D below the L&T Monogram and 1½ D from the left fold of the envelope. The window must extend downwards to a distance of 1/3 D from the bottom fold.

ENVELOPE - PAPER SIZE

This envelope must measure 220 mm in width and 110 mm in
height (closed size).

This segment details guidelines to be followed for creation of small envelope with a top flap.

Size and placement of the Address Block: The address block must be placed at a distance of 1/2 D from the bottom fold of the envelope and 1½ D from the left fold of the envelope.

Size and Placement of the Window: The window must be 110 mm in width and 45 mm in height. It must be placed at a distance of 1 D below the L&T Monogram and 1½ D from the left fold of the envelope. The window must extend downwards to a distance of 1/3 D from the bottom fold.

Business Card

SECONDARY BRAND TIER 1 BUSINESS CARD

LTTS falls under Tier-1 ICs and those Registered Companies (RC) that form the second rung in the L&T corporate structure. The following guidelines must therefore be adhered to for designing business cards for employees.

Size and Placement of the L&T Monogram: The measurement unit for all brand mark construction and design of applications is the diameter (D) of the Monogram. The diameter of the L&T Monogram used in this visiting card must be 10 mm.

The L&T Monogram must be placed at a distance of 1/2 D from the top edge of the card and 1½ D from the left edge, as illustrated.

Size and Placement of the Secondary Brand Word Mark: The word mark must be placed at a distance of 1/4 D to the right of the L&T Monogram if it is made up of 15 letters or more, including spaces between words.

Otherwise, the word mark must be placed 1 D from the left edge of the card. The first letter in the word mark must be 1/3 D in height and vertically central to the L&T Monogram.

Placement of the Address Block: The address block must be placed at a distance of 5½ D from the left edge of the page and 1/2 D below the Monogram.

Placement of contact details: Contact details must be placed at a distance of 1/4 D from the bottom edge of the page and must be left-aligned to the address block.

Placement of Name and Designation: The name of the employee must be left-aligned to the Monogram and must be vertically centralised between the bottom of the Monogram and the bottom edge of the contact details. The designation must appear in the line below the name. It may run into two lines.

USAGE OF ACADEMIC DEGREES ON VISITING CARDS

Inclusion of academic qualifications that would otherwise be apparent from the designated role would suggest a weakness, and should be avoided.

However, an employee may include an academic qualification in the following conditions:

The degree must pertain to a super specialization: an indicator of distinguished achievement.
The degree must be perceived by the external world as an ability by the employee to bring to the job, expertise that is uncommon in the particular function.
The degree should not be a pre-requisite for the job. (Example, a B. Tech or M.Tech is a pre-requisite to be employed in the engineering function at LTTS. Similarly, a C.A. or I.C.W.A is a pre-requisite to undertake a finance function role). Therefore, such qualifications must not be used.
Medical doctors must use the title ‘Dr.’ as well as their
qualification on their business card in conformance with conventions and given the necessity to identify themselves in case of emergencies.

Note: While prefixing the honorific ‘Dr.’ or suffixing a degree, adhere to conventions and protocol.
Note: Please ensure that all information is correct before submitting your card for print.
Important: In case of lack of clarity regarding usage eligibility of a particular qualification, the same must be resolved by HR in consultation with Corporate Brand Management & Communications, L&T House, Mumbai.

Identity Card

CONSTRUCTING THE REGULAR IDENTITY CARD

The LTTS regular identity card is a vertical format card, color coded for identification of employees, vendors and visitors respectively. For design, size, and placement of the elements and details to feature on this card, refer to the illustration on the next page. The measurement unit for all brand mark construction and design of applications is the diameter (D) of the Monogram.

CORRECT PLACEMENT OF LOGO UNIT

The dynamic version of the logo must be used.

COLOR

Ground: White, Logo Unit: Responsive logo, Name and Other Details: White font on LTTS blue for employees, blue font for vendors, and black font for visitors and temporary entry permits.

ID CARD SIZE

Height: 85 mm, Width: 55 mm

Minimum distance of 1/3 D must be maintained around the logo unit. Separator and table borders should be of 0.5 pt thickness and both issuing office and registered office addresses must be mentioned on the purchase order.

Certificates

The LTTS Certificates, given in appreciation of outstanding contributions to the organization, must conform to the illustrated guidelines. The blue angled block must be used to separate the logo unit from the certificate content.

CONSTRUCTING AND PLACING THE UNIT

The LTTS logo should be placed in the top-left corner. This is followed by the heading in all caps and subheadings in sentence case. The heading and subheadings should be center-aligned. The signature should be placed in the bottom-right corner.
