Abstract

The global economy is struggling to address a shortage of semiconductor chips. With key investments plans behind schedule, trade and tariff tensions brewing, historic over-centralization of production facilities in certain regions, and the pandemic-induced lockdowns refusing to the subside – it looks as if the challenges could continue well into 2023.

As the world comes to grips with the aftermath of the shortages, the present paper takes a look into the background of the current scenario. It goes on to present a short prescription for a robust future by leveraging state-of-the-art supply chain capabilities in today’s dynamic global landscape, defined by the ravages of a pandemic, trade tensions, and evolving demand patterns.
