Abstract
Prognostics and Health Management (PHM) is a structured engineering approach applied to predict the future state of product, such as predicting failures, anomaly detection in product behavior, calculation of ‘remaining useful life’ of the product using the product knowledge and field data, etc.
This paper explains the importance of PHM and its applications in the aerospace industry. It proposes a PHM framework that can be implemented by aircraft Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) in order to predict product failures, product anomalies, remaining useful life, and plot trends to provide further insight into failures.
This knowledge can be extended to implement PHM for multiple product or product variants and can be expandable to Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MROs) industry.
